In this video “On The Road with Randy: Yankeeland Recap,” Randy, the President of Quality Carriers, provides an update on his tour through various company locations in the Northeast.
The first stop was in Springfield, Massachusetts, where Randy visited a CSX property with an intermodal yard. He met with Jack Wright and Nick Terpos, the terminal manager, to discuss the new facilities. The Springfield location provides better parking for drivers and saves costs. It has around 14 drivers, and Nick has done an excellent job managing the operation.
Next, Randy traveled to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. This location was acquired by Quality Carriers a few years ago. The site specializes in dry bulk work, mainly serving quarries in Connecticut. Randy met with Glenn Heckman and other staff, including Adam and Rob, who oversee the maintenance shop. He also inspected new heavy-duty dump trucks to serve the quarry business better. These trucks have safety features like an anti-tip system, enhancing driver safety.
Randy visited another site in Florence, Vermont, which has significantly evolved. He met with staff, including Sherman, Devin, and Mike, who handle maintenance operations. Randy also spoke with Ed, a flexible utility worker who balances farming and driving for Quality Carriers. Additionally, he met drivers Frank and Gary, who transport double trailers across New York. This location is vital for the company’s operations and benefits from being close to the customer.
The final stop on the Yankee Land tour was in Albany, New York. This terminal has operated for 40 to 50 years and serves various customers. Randy met with Kathy, the terminal manager, Shelly, Mike, and Dave, who manage operations. He also met Rodney, a long-time driver who recently returned to Quality Carriers after a brief stint hauling propane. Randy met Eric, the shop manager, and Rob, the shop foreman. He spoken with Clyde and his son CJ, two experienced mechanics with over 80 years of combined industry experience.
Randy concluded the tour by trying out a truck simulator the New York Trucking Association brought in. The simulator gave him a better understanding of drivers’ daily challenges. Overall, the Yankee Land tour succeeded, allowing Randy to connect with regional teams and assess the company’s growth and improvements.
This recap highlights Quality Carriers’ focus on safety, efficiency, and support for its drivers and operations across multiple locations.
